A Church in Hyde has been granted £300,000 for a brand new heating system, as well as an extension, double glazing and disabled access to the building. The work will be carried out in the grounds of the church, and will comprise of a new community centre.
The centre will be built next to the church, and will incorporate a community hall, meeting rooms, a kitchen and toilet facilities, as well of course, as the all important church heating system.
The church heating system will be a highly energy efficient air source heat pump, which work very similarly to a ground source heating system, but because of the limited ground space, this is the more effective option.
The church heating grant has been provided by Hampshire Community Buildings Fund, GrantWeston and from Rank, as well as a £30,000 injection from Veolia Environmental Services. The project is already underway, and is scheduled for completion some time next year.
The centre will be available for the community and local primary school, as well as church patrons and private hire.
