All Saint's in Long Ashton has been awarded a church heating grant of £30,000 from EDF Energy to help keep their patrons warm this winter. The Church, which is in desperate need of a heating system overhaul is now even closer to their £200,000 goal.
Up to now the church has raised over £90,000 which will go toward an under floor heating system, powered by solar panels and new air source heat pump.
The church has been without heating for nearly 4 years now, and having to wrap up in coats hats, gloves and scarf's during the harsh winters has be a real challenge for worshippers and staff, but their prayers have been answered now. Last year it got so cold in January and February that the churchgoers had to move to another building.
Churchwarden Neil Turp was delighted at the news of the heating grant, and up to now has been using portable heaters, but they simply aren't powerful enough to provide the required warmth.
To make up the rest of the money, fund raising events are planned, so for more information on how to get involved or even donate, please visit www.allsaintsla.org.uk
